Board Approved 2026-2027 Academic Calendar
Good morning Community School of Davidson,
The 2026-2027 Academic Calendar was presented and successfully approved at last night’s Board Meeting. The calendar is attached to this communication. It was important to have our 2026-2027 Calendar approved far in advance so appropriate plans can be made by our families.
We will continue to have the first day of school on a Wednesday (August 12th). The 20th Day of School will be September 9th. Attendance during the first 20 days of school is crucial. If a student fails to attend during the first 20 days of school without appropriate notice/communication, CSD reserves the right to treat the absence as a withdrawal and will immediately offer the open slot to the next student on the respective waiting list.
The last day of school will be May 28th, which means our End-of-Year Testing will begin May 13th. Please avoid scheduling any conflicts that would impact attendance during that time-period, as well.
One new component to our calendar is the inclusion of a "Weather Make-Up/FLEX day" in late-April. This day will be treated as a normal, instructional school day in case we need a weather make-up for winter weather (or hurricane season) during the year. I am hoping this is viewed as responsive to those in our community who were a bit unsettled during last winter, in regards to our weather decisions. Knowing we have a day "to be reserved for weather make-up" will be an additional factor when taking everything into account for weather-related decisions, which are always challenging.
If we happen to get through the fall and winter with no weather-impacted days, then the day remains open to "FLEX" as either a Teacher Workday, Professional Development, Intervention/Academic Student Support, etc.; I would be required to present that change for Board approval in ‘26-27. For all planning purposes, consider April 30th a traditional school day.
The CSD website will have the calendar posted soon, as well.
Thank you for viewing and continue to be your best,
